Welcome to Tejas Yoga & Ayurveda, your place finally move through your health obstacles holistically. Whether you're dealing with chronic conditions, new overwhelming symptoms, emotional stressors, or simply not feeling like yourself, Ayurveda offers time-tested tools to help you reconnect with your innate vitality and well-being. Ayurveda translates to "science of life”. This system views each person as a unique combination of three energies, or doshas—Vata (movement), Pitta (transformation), and Kapha (stability). When these energies are in harmony, we feel our best. When imbalances arise, they manifest in the body as symptoms such as hormonal disruption, gut dysbiosis, autoimmune disease, nervous system disorder... the list is long.
I know how powerful this system can be because it transformed my own health. I struggled with severe asthma that conventional medicine could not fully resolve. I was experiencing nightly asthma attacks that paired exquisitely with panic. I could feel my airways closing and I had no way of stopping it. I was offered inhalers and allergy medication and no further explanation of why these asthma attacks were happening. I was frustrated and scared. I looked to holistic options, because I had no other options and that’s when Ayurveda helped me uncover the root cause of my symptoms and provided tools to heal. Not just my body, but my mind and spirit as well. I started working with an Ayurvedic Practitioner at the time, and it expanded my perspective on what medicine is. I began connecting the dots between my diet, my sleep, my relationships and my work. I very quickly realized that the medicine is in everything we are and everything we do. It is in how we manage our stress, how we eat (just as much as WHAT we eat), who we love and how we think. The medicine is in working on the nervous system and looking at the thoughts we choose. So, I had a choice. I could change my life and habits and continue on this path with debilitating asthma, or make some big changes and finally move away from midnight inhalers and asthma attacks. The nightly asthma attacks were fully resolved in about 3 months, never to return again. What I didn’t see coming was how my PMDD symptoms (cramps, severe anxiety, bloating and joint pain) slowly lessened, my hair started growing in thicker, my stubborn acne on my forehead started clearing, I had more energy physically and passion emotionally to pursue the things I loved. I found myself. My true self.
I saw a change that I didn’t know was possible and it sparked something in me that made me want to give this to everyone I know. My desire to share Ayurveda doesn’t end simply at giving you a protocol and walking away. My intention is to offer your the knowledge of how to identify imbalance, even at its earliest stage. But also to give you the tools you need to correct them as you recognize them.
Ayurvedic care is not one size fits all. Your care will look different depending on your unique constitution. In fact, your care may vary season to season or month to month. You will be taught all about your ideal diet, lifestyle and if necessary, herbal formulas to provide optimal health. I don’t believe anyone desires to be reliant on medications or restrictive lifestyles. The goal in our work together is to find freedom and stability through routine and consistency.
Below are some of the common symptoms my clients have seen relief from:
Nervous system disorders including chronic stress, anxiety, insomnia and fatigue
Hormonal imbalances including PMDD, PMS, PCOS, and symptoms linked to perimenopause & menopause
Digestive challenges including bloating, acid reflux, IBS, IBD, GERD
Respiratory concerns including asthma, allergies, and chronic and recurring sinus infections
Skin disorders including hives, eczema, acne, and psoriasis
In our very first appointment we will spend 2 hours to uncover your unique constitution through thorough examination of your history, all your symptoms and by mapping out who you are. From there we will create a customized plan that fits your needs and your life. Using diet, herbs, lifestyle adjustments, yoga, and meditation, we’ll address the root causes of your concerns and establish a path toward balance, towards who you were before the discomfort and imbalance took over.
If this feels like the path for you, book a free 15 minute discovery call to discuss your needs and ask your questions.
